'Concrete' sub-bases guarantee you the strength and peace of mind that your driveway will never sink or show unsightly ruts.

WHY DO I NEED A CONCRETE SUB BASE??

ESSENTIAL INFORMATION:

The least expensive quote you receive is probably that for a good reason.

Unfortunately, there are contractors who will try to "shortchange" a customer by cutting down on all the elements of the project that cant be seen and that really matter to the long term life of your drive!

i.e. The Sub-Base..

Using inferior sub-base material such as 'Type 1 Road Stone' or 'Crushed Concrete' or 'Tarmac Shavings', maybe cheaper in the short term, but over the years ahead, rutting and dips will appear that will collect water and puddles leading to damp patches, moss and weed growth as well as significantly reducing the strength and eventually ruining the look of your paving.

Because we dont tamp and polish the concrete, it retains drainage properties, allowing the rainfall to make its way back down to the natural water table below. We hope in this way that our use of concrete doesnt affect the natural drainage cycle of rainfall.

What Lies Beneath... is essential to the long term integrity of your new installation!

At 'The Paving Company', we always use a premixed concrete sub-base for driveways, paths and patios! This guarantees maximum strength for your project! We dont accept anything less..

We always recommend using a concrete sub-base for a driveway thats designed to take the weight of a vehicle...

WHY?

BECAUSE YOU ONLY WANT TO PAY FOR YOUR PAVING ONCE!!

We use a concrete sub-base, laid to a minimum of 4 inches, to create an incredibly strong and yet porous base for the sharp sand and blocks to be laid onto. Tests show that 4 inches of C20* specification concrete can support up to 20 tonnes of weight. For most hard-landscaping purposes, a C20 mix is usually adequate. This is roughly equivalent to the old 4:2:1 mix.

The approximate quantities of materials used to generate 1m³ of a C20 (1:2:4) equivalent concrete are.....

Ordinary Portland cement (OPC) - 350 kg
Fine aggregate (sand) - 700 kg
Coarse Aggregate (gravel) - 1100 kg
Water - 190 kg (190 litres)

We always recommend using a concrete sub-base for a driveway thats designed to take the weight of a vehicle...

We guarantee that if our installation develops a problem, we will come and see it within 7 days and arrange to correct the problem within 14 days.
Be assured that our driveways will support upto a 7.5 tonne vehicle without rutting or collapse...GUARANTEED!
